Financial Aid Requests

To families seeking emotional and financial support following pregnancy and infant loss:

We are so sorry for the situation that connected you to us - we know you are missing your precious baby, and that's such a hard journey to walk. We hope you know that your babies matter so much, to us at Simply A Miracle, and to so many others. We truly want to support you and ease your other burdens so you can focus on grieving, healing, and loving your sweet babies.

Currently, Simply A Miracle operations are essentially paused.

The Simply A Miracle team is a very small group of volunteers, and we are in the process of reassessing and readjusting. We appreciate your patience as we figure out the best ways to support the families we serve, as well as our own families.

We plan to resume operations and process all applications and provide financial aid for all qualifying families.

You may still submit an application!

When we resume, these are our current policies (which may be adjusted):
  • We typically provide aid in amounts of $500-$1500, depending on need and available funds.

  • We pay aid directly to providers (hospitals, memorial/headstone companies, therapists, ambulance, prenatal care providers, etc.). To do this, we usually need the provider bill pay website or phone number, account number, patient full name, patient birth date, patient address, email, and/or phone number. The easiest way to provide much of this is to send a full image of your billing statement. This also allows us to verify your situation and need.

  • We are not able to process urgent or timely payments, such as up-front mortuary payments.

  • We are not able to pay for any non-loss-related costs such as utility bills, car payments, etc.

  • We support families throughout the United States, with losses from early miscarriage to approximately 1 year old.

  • We have no policy regarding how recently your loss was. As long as you have a loss-related bill with a balance, we will do what we can to support.

In the meantime, these are recommendations we make to all families:
  • If you are insured, we recommend contacting an insurance representative to understand the process that happens when large bills come through. Providers and insurance often have to go back and forth for a while before payment is made, and you may receive bills for things that you won't have to pay in the end.

  • We recommend starting payment plans whenever possible, or making partial payments, to prevent bills from going to collections. Most hospitals have payment plan options, and many other providers are willing to work with you if you contact them.

  • If you have outstanding bills with a hospital, they typically have financial assistance programs that you can apply for - once you've applied for those, billing is typically paused while the application is processed.

Below you will find a link to a list of other organizations that provide financial assistance to pregnancy and infant loss families. These organizations have different situations they assist with, and different requirements to qualify, but there are likely at least 1 or 2 that fit your situation.

We wish we could tell you exactly when you can expect payment or further communication from Simply A Miracle. Our plan going forward is to review applications monthly as a board, notify applicants of the decision, and make payments within the month. That being said, life happens, we have some catch-up to do, we are still making adjustments, and some providers have a much more difficult process for payments on behalf of patients. All of these factors may influence the timeline of applicants receiving their decision and payment.

We are eager to get everything figured out, resume operations, and offer you the best support we can. We apologize again for this delay, and are grateful for your patience. We will continue to keep your families in our prayers.

We know that family matters most, especially when you've experienced loss. Our goal is to lift other burdens so families can focus on grieving, loving, remembering, and healing together after a loss. If you or someone you know has experienced infant loss, and is being negatively impacted by the financial burden of loss related costs, please click the button below to complete our application form as completely as possible. This will allow us to know the best ways we can help with that burden.

*Parents are the most likely to be able to fill this form out thoroughly, but friends or relatives are welcome to apply in behalf of loved ones. Do the best you can to answer each question, and we'll figure things out!

Please Note:

Operations are currently paused. You are welcome to submit an application. When we resume operations, we will review your application. Simply A Miracle reviews Financial Aid Applications once per month. The payment process can take some time. We are unable to assist with urgent or extremely time-sensitive financial aid requests. Thank you for your understanding!
